Marijn Brussaard is an Amsterdam-based artist, composer, performer. With a background in professional dance and performing arts, he creates musically driven performances and installations which reflect on the theatrics of contemporary phenomena, such as media saturation, subcultural identity, spectacle and simulacra. In his work, the drama and tension are found in the contradictions and inconsistencies of these subjects. His multidisciplinary practice, spanning performance, installation, and electronic music, strives to offer a transcendent state that pushes beyond simulated realities.
He has performed and shown work at Eye Filmmuseum (Amsterdam), Lowlands Festival (NL), The Grey Space in the Middle (The Hague), De Singel (Antwerp), Scopitone (Nantes), Schauspiel Hannover (Hannover), The Unicorn Theatre (London), Lunchmeat Festival (Prague), La Station (Paris), All (Shanghai), Dada Bar (Beijing).
